The Saki faction were able to take a large step forward today – eliminating their main obstacle in Block D and also sending their ever reliable ace through to the next round in Block F. We’ll all seen this before in previous tournaments – high amount of fakes in a match involving Biri Biri, and Nodocchi once again coming up top in a crunch match. Once again, Biri Biri fell short, but at least this time she has the chance to make amends if she does make it into the repechage round.
Speaking about falling short, Toshinou Kyouko is another one who did – the early promise she showed were all for naught as she was defeated by Tomoka who probably received a boost by the Saki faction (and possibly the last ep of RKB just having aired). Kyouko supporters must be sick at the sight of Saki continually ruining her chances, and the only way they can seek revenge now is to support Tomoka so that Kyouko’s able to come back via the repechage round (and at the same time knocking some Saki girls out). That certainly makes for an interesting watch.
Also, Chitose was a disappointment today, failing to even challenge Yoshino despite the Yuru Yuri combo votes. The Hermit keeps the flame for Date A Live alive (ba dum tss), while snuffing out im@s’ as Harurun is knocked out.
This will be a showdown between Arata and Saori – Arata’s combo votes with Shizu will definitely boost her chances – but this is an eerily similar scenario the Saki faction are facing, just like on Day 4 of Round 2 where Miho eventually defeated a Toki-boosted Ako. Saki needs Arata there though in order to counter Tomoka in the third round – so there’s extra motivation there. However, the Yuru Yuri faction might feel like exacting immediate revenge here after Kyouko’s loss, and they could very well vote for Saori. I’m kind of skeptical with regards to Arata’s individual strength, so I’m going with Saori here.
Yuru Yuri will still be reeling from Kyouko’s loss, but they have to get their act together here in a bid to challenge Shizu. Putting aside Akarin, Block E still represents their best chance of progressing further in the tournament – though they’ll have to work hard for it and a victory over Shizu would do them a world of good. Sadly, the Saki faction also sense an opportunity here with the lack of big names, so this match is probably Shizu’s to take.
Could be a tricky one, the ‘bigger’ name here will be Nyaruko but she hasn’t been a star performer in any way. Suguha, being the new face here, will be the dark horse, while Maho is probably from the strongest series of the three here. Predicting Nyaruko to grab the win here because, well, Kuuko did finish above Maho during the prelims, but don’t rule out the basketball loli here as Ro-Kyu-Bu is on a high after Mokkan’s victory and the airing of their final ep.
