Saimoe Fantasy 2013 Phase II/III

Phase II of Fantasy is divided into two sections: The first will take place from Round 2 to the Block Finals, while the second will cover the repechage round. More details will be given regarding the second part of Phase II in the near future.

For now, you are to pick any 16 characters from any of the Round 2 contestants, but you are only allowed a maximum of 2 characters from the same series. This time though, you have to be careful of your choices as they will be carried over to the third round and the Block Finals!

However, to make sure things remain competitive, the following will happen:

  • Before Round 3 begins, you are allowed to change up to 8 characters from your line-up.
  • Before the Block Finals, you are allowed to change up to 4 characters from your Round 3 line-up. The maximum of 2 characters from the same series rule will be lifted. After making the substitutions, you will trim down your line-up to 8 characters (instead of 16).

As part of the repechage system being introduced this year, you will also be given one [Redemption] card for each round (thus a total of three cards). These [Redemption cards] can be attached to any one of your characters in your line-up. They can only be attached before the start of Round 2, Round 3 and the Block Finals. The character holding the [Redemption] card will be given an extra 5 points per victory during the repechage round (consisting of 3 rounds). As you’d have guessed it, the [Redemption] card becomes useless if it is attached to an eventual Block winner or someone who does not qualify for the repechage round. Also, [Redemption] cards do not stack up and must be used with three different characters. For more details regarding how the repechage round works, refer to

You will also be given one [Wildcard] card for each round (thus a total of three cards). The [Wildcard] will allow you to make ONE substitution while the round is going on. You can even use this card when a match is going on – but you cannot swap out one of your characters in your line-up with another character who has already had her match for the round. So for example:

  • Today’s 17th Sep.
  • Match between D,E,F is currently taking place.
  • Match between J,K,L is also currently taking place.
  • Match between G,H,I takes place on 18th Sep
  • A,B,C’s match already took place on 16th Sep.
  • Your line-up has A,D,G,L

You can’t swap D or L for B/C, but you can swap D or L with E,F,G,H,I,J,K by using the [Wildcard].

To use the [Wildcard], just leave a comment here.

Scoring system for Phase II Part 1:

Winner – 5 points

Top 3 highest vote % in each round – 5 points
Top 3 highest no of votes in each round – 5 points
Winning by a margin of at least 15% (of 2nd-placed contestant) – 2 points

Question – Since the repechage round takes place after the block finals, how will the selections for the repechage round go? Will we keep all characters who we picked and lost on during round 2-3-finals in some sort of pool that is set aside so that we can free up space for the pre round 3 and pre finals substitutions? And our rosters for the repechage round will only include those characters we picked in round 2-3-finals? Or does everyone just pick from the repechage pool and the only thing that carries over from here is the redemption card? Or do we have to keep them on the roster to benefit from them in the repechage round?

Or is it just the characters we attached the redemption card to will be on our roster for the repechage round? This seems to be what you’re suggesting but at the same time you also said that the redemption card means an extra five points which suggests that characters on our roster without redemption cards still earn points?

For the repechage round, everyone will start from scratch and pick from the repechage pool. Only the redemption card will be carried over.

Also once attached, it can’t be transferred to another character.

Trying to predict some of these round 3 matchups is a nightmare thanks to the repechage system….@.@ This could get pretty crazy. I like.
