Saki’s side characters show no sign of halting their poor form as Hajime and Kouko were knocked out. Was somewhat surprised that Hajime fell to Miu, but that’s that. Looking back, this was a block that Saki supporters were probably gonna abandon anyway as there are no strong representatives for them, so that might explain things.
In contrast, the side characters of Yuru Yuri are doing pretty well, with Ayano through after a convincing win over Girls Und Panzer who’s not having much luck in this tournament at all.
This one can go any way – Saki’s side characters are not performing well at all, and without combo voting it’ll be even harder for Kokaji, who’s the last one standing for the Saki series in this block. So it could be down to Rikka and Goemon, and looking at their second prelim records (a less popular Nene just 4 votes off Rikka and Goemon just 4 votes off a more popular Regina), I’m slightly leaning to the loli ninja here.
Tsukiko was expected to take the tournament by storm this year but she failed to impressed in the prelims. However, she’s still the overwhelming favorite here and should advance to the second round easily.
Umi should win this without a hitch, being from a more recent and better-supported series.
This could be a tricky one – split voting and the possibility of strategic voting by the Raildex supporters to ensure Saten has an easier task in the next round. However, as mentioned before, Raildex supporters are not active in that aspect, and Chinatsu is almost certain to be sacrificed over here. Akarin is probably the strongest non-Saki returning character from last year’s tournament, and her sheer strength should see her through here.
