Lopsided wins as the victors for this round of matches were hardly troubled by their opponents. Especially so for Saten and Kuroneko who amassed 60+% of the votes, living up to their favorite tags of Block G. However, they’re likely to face far, far tougher opposition in the next round, so that’s where they can prove themselves worthy of being serious contenders for the tournament.

Preview:

Sasaki Chiho
Araragi Karen
Konjiki no Yami

Chiho did very well for the prelim debut, though some might argue that it wasn’t the toughest of groups. However, she should have what it takes to beat Karen and Yami – Karen isn’t the strongest Monogatari representative around, and the fact that her sis Tsukihi finished some way off Chiho in the prelims is another indication that she’s unlikely to hold back the MgRonald’s part-timer. Yami’s probably the one who will contest Chiho, but the preference for a new face should see Chiho holding an advantage.

Toujou Nozomi
Fukuyo Kouko
Sae

The less popular of the Love Live and Hidamari main cast are up against a side character from Saki hoping to benefit from combo voting. The only time Sae has made it past Round 1 was during her debut, so history’s not on her side. For Kouko, she was the beneficiary of Hajime’s votes back in the prelims, so she’ll be hoping for the same help this time round. Love Live has had mixed fortunes, but with a good chance of obtaining another second round spot, Nozomi’s likely to challenge Kouko over here.

Mochimazzui Choi
Sugiura Ayano
Kadotani Anzu

This match will be a battle between Yuru Yuri’s Ayano and Garupan’s Anzu. Haven’t seen much of Garupan’s prowess in the tournament so far, while Yuru Yuri’s form would suggest that Ayano would be the slight favorite here despite not being one of their strongest representatives.

Takanashi Miu
Kunihiro Hajime

Hercule Barton

This battle is where series strength will prevail, and it will Hajime’s for the taking.

  1. ….I don’t know what I was thinking having Fukuyo Kouko on my team….Saki faction gave up on their side characters a while ago…She is getting stomped hard right now.
