Round One Block C Day Two Results

Shinka, Mako, Tsukihi, Kuuko advance to Round Two.

This result is confirmed.

1st 195 (64.36%) Nibutani Shinka (Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!)
2nd 55 (18.15%) Tobiichi Origami (Date A Live)
3rd 53 (17.49%) Christa Lenz (Shingeki no Kyojin)

1st 127 (44.41%) Reizei Mako (Girls und Panzer)
2nd 89 (31.12%) Rias Gremory (Highschool DxD)
3rd 70 (24.48%) Darjeeling (Girls und Panzer)

1st 131 (45.17%) Araragi Tsukihi (Nekomonogatari: Kuro)
2nd 85 (29.31%)Natsukawa Masuzu (OreShura)
3rd 74 (25.52%) Demon King (Maoyuu Maou Yuusha)

1st 132 (44.90%) Kuuko (Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W)
2nd 109 (37.07%) Itsuka Kotori @ Date A Live
3rd 53 (18.03%) Haroukitei Kigurumi (Joshiraku)

No surprises for this round of matches, though Shinka’s victory was noteworthy as she managed to garner the highest vote % of the main round thus far, beating Azuki Azusa’s tally from the previous day. The two will cross paths if they’re able to navigate through their second round matches, so that’s one match to possibly look forward to in the future.

Elsewhere, Mako will fly the Garupan flag along with Miho in the next round. Tsukihi’s comfortably through the next round, though that’s probably the furthest she’ll go as she’ll likely face two contestants from the Big Two factions. Kuuko emerged victorious in a heated battle with her clone from another dimension, proving that she has enough fuel left in her tank.

The next series of matches feature some big names from the past, future and present…

Makishima Saori (Oreimo)
Ika Musume (Shinryaku!? Ika Musume)
Hiiragi Kagami (Miyakawa-ke no Kuufuku)

Ika Musume actually impressed in the prelims, beating the likes of Yukari and Saki despite having not much air-time over the past year. 2008 Champion Kagami makes a return here, but only a freak result would see her beat the invader from the sea. As for Saori, Ika Musume smashed her by about 100 votes in the prelims, so there’s no chance for her here.

Kurumi Erika (Precure All Stars New Stage 2)
Yazawa Niko (Love Live!)
Niwa Nagahide (Oda Nobuna no Yabou)

Putting aside the Smile Precures, Erika has actually done decent over the past few years, being one of the Precures that actually manage to qualify to the main round on a consistent basis. That said, she’s up against a more popular franchise here, and as such I expect Niko to qualify here.

Minami Chiaki (Minami-ke Tadaima)
Futaba Aoi (Vividred Operation)
Sakura Kyouko (Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica)

Kyouko is one of the big favorites for Block C, and also the favorite in this match-up. Vividred’s awful performance is set to continue here. Chiaki underperformed in the prelims, and will probably come up short here unless Rikka supporters decide to help her out. Probably not so much though as Round 2 would present a better opportunity for that with Kyapten around.

Tsutsukakushi Tsukushi (Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko.)
Miyamoto Konatsu (Tari Tari)
Takanashi Rikka (Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!)

A victory for Rikka, unless the Madoka faction tries to take her out here. For now, probably not.

Round One Block C Day One Results

Yuzuko, Azusa, Mihoko and Tamako advance to Round Two.

This result is confirmed.

1位 159 [41.41%] Nonohara Yuzuko (Yuyushiki)
2位 137 [35.68%] Kataoka Yuuki (Saki: Achiga-hen)
3位 55 [14.32%] Kurugaya Yuiko (Little Busters!)
4位 33 [8.59%] Orange Pekoe (Girls und Panzer)

1位 191 [52.19%] Azuki Azusa (Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko.)
2位 88 [24.04%] Oshino Shinobu (Nekomonogatari: Kuro)
3位 87 [23.77%] Elucia de Lute Ima (Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai: Tenri-hen)

1位 165 [42.86%] Fukuji Mihoko (Saki: Achiga-hen)
2位 151 [39.22%] Isuzu Hana (Girls und Panzer)
3位 69 [17.92%] Morgiana (Magi)

1位 148 [42.65%] Kitashirakawa Tamako (Tamako Market)
2位 106 [30.55%] Millhiore Firianno Biscotti (Dog Days’)
3位 93 [26.80%] Yoshida Yuki (Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? of the Dead)

Now that is an impressive Yuyushiki win. Yuzuko not only beat a Saki character, she beat Kugumiya-Rie-powered, combo-powered, once-quarterfinalist Kataoka Yuuki. Yes, the takeaway here is that 2009 thing. Tacos had barely presence in the latest iteration of the anime, and 2ch is obviously aware of stuff like this. Although realistically, the biggest impact of this match will be making the Round Two match essentially be Shinka-Ika Musume. Again, this is a discussion left for another day.

Captain avoids the first round choke this time, but barely. This match was close from the get-go, but as usual Saki excels in the late-game, and that was enough to send the 2009 semifinalist to the next round and to rub salt into the wounded Garupan faction.

It bears mentioning that Azuki Azusa had the second biggest vote percentage so far in the round (second only to Yozora).  And she did this against the 2011 Block Finalist Elsie (as opposed to Yozora’s opponent, the inexperienced Kukuru), and Shinobu, making the victory even more remarkable. So if you did not get the memo already, Azuki Azusa is a real threat to eventually challenge the Big Two factions of Saimoe.

Every dog has her day, but August 30 isn’t the one for Millhiore as she fell to the newcomer Tamako to wrap up Day One of Block C.

Tobiichi Origami (Date A Live)
Christa Lenz (Shingeki no Kyojin)
Nibutani Shinka (Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!)

Shinka has proven she’s no fake in the prelims. Hence, time for Origami to fold. Obviously, Christa’s history too.

Rias Gremory (Highschool DxD)
Reizei Mako (Girls und Panzer)
Darjeeling (Girls und Panzer)

Winning Saimoe match-ups doesn’t seem to be Darjeeling’s cup of tea. Still, Mako cannot sleep through this match. I can’t discount the possbility that she and Darjeeling might even fumble against Rias the way Garupan is reeling right now.

Demon King (Maoyuu Maou Yuusha)
Natsukawa Masuzu (OreShura)
Araragi Tsukihi (Nekomonogatari: Kuro)

Platinum is greater than Silver, who won’t even get the silver medal in this match.

Kuuko (Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W)
Itsuka Kotori (Date A Live)
Haroukitei Kigurumi (Joshiraku)

Out of the (preliminary) frying pan and into the fire.
