Final 8, here we go!
So this year sees six contestants from the same series up against 2 of the Rie tsunderes who are making their final appearances in Saimoe. Not one for viewers who prefer variety, but we’ll just have to stick with it. The veteran-newcomer ratio for this year’s QF is 5:3, as opposed to 1:7 a year ago.
Based on statistics compiled from results thus far, the character rankings for the final 8 contestants are as follows: 1) Yuu 2) Toki 3) Kuro 4) Nodoka 5) Hisa 6) Saki 7) Louise 8) Shana. Of course, Yuu has had a comfortable ride so far – so the stats are skewed in her favor as a result. In any case, the Rie tsunderes have it all to do, starting today…

Louise vs Toki. Probably the QF match with the least interest, as most people are pessimistic about Louise chances of even mounting a fight against the top favorite to win the tournament. Hardly surprising, since Toki has never fallen below 58% in terms of vote percentage garnered since the start of Round 1. Still, Louise has the penchant for the strange, so it’s unwise to rule her out completely. After all, she’s been a pest for the Saki faction since their debut three years ago – the likes of Momo, Hisa and Mihoko (indirectly) have fell short when up against her. Sadly though, the Void Magic user finds herself in familiar territory, just like in 2009 when she was paired up with Nodocchi – Saki’s top ace back then. Of course, there’s a possibility that the supporters of other Saki girls might turn against Toki, knowing that she’s the strongest – but based on past evidence, the chances of that happening are low. Expect a similar outcome for Louise ala 2009 here.
