With Louise on deck, anything can happen. That proves true once again on this match day. After a suspiciously silent showing in her match against Makoto, Louise looked like the total underdog against her more accomplished foe, but like the magician that she is, she found a way to upset Nagi – officially ending a disappointing 2012 campaign for Hayate no Gotoku, and denying Nagi the top spot in the Saimoe all-time wins hierarchy. She’ll have to settle it with a returning Nanoha next year, and this promises to be one of the more intriguing storylines reserved for next year (along with Madoka crossing paths with Saki). Louise being Louise. Suddenly, her third quarterfinals appearance in for attempts looks more and more likely.

The other match has Hisa continuing her magical run after two former campaigns cut short by tough draws. The win also was an effective retribution for a fallen comrade. Kuuko couldn’t quite recapture the formula that led to her victory over Shizu, but perhaps Saki just wasn’t caught off-guard this time around. In any case, I think this is just a case of the opening Block C match (Shizu vs. Kyouko) ultimately busting this block wide open.

No Sakis involved today – coincidentally, an actually interesting (and relatively unpredictable) match day!

Lotte and Yayoi will be looking for a date with the Hell Waitress in Round Four. Lotte’s been here before and beyond. Yayo is the new kid in the block.  Some guys in 2ch has Lotte getting this, and statistically she’s favored too. Yayoi didn’t look so solid in her Round Two match after cruising in the opening round. But I’ll go the different path here and stick with Yayoi on the hope that being the fresher character of the two will help her cause. Not that it helped Kuuko against Hisa, and Lotte belongs to the KugiRie faction too, so it’s a longshot, but we’ll see.

Chihaya versus Hinata is also intriguing. The latter’s looking for payback, the former is looking for survival. RKB’s on a tear lately highlighted by Airi upending Poplar. If Chihaya’s less powerful than Poplar then Hinata has to be favored here, as I believe she’s higher than Airi in the RKB power rankings. I think that will be the case here, but Louise fans could tactically vote here. Seems farfetched, but stranger things have happened! im@s voters should go all danketsu here if they want a shot at a quarterfinals representative. If there’s such a thing as Saimoe momentum though, then it seems like Hinata won’t be denied and Chihaya will be singing her swan song here…

  1. Good night sweet princess (2/4)

Louise is as per usual, the choice to go for hilarious upsets.

Also let it be written here that at some point that Nagi and Nanoha will most likely face directly next year. A-1 Round 1 match even.

  2. bah… greater of two evils won out. Chihaya might be a little reliable, but I somehow doubt it’s gonna be enough to keep that bitch from getting into the quarterfinals again. -_-

As for today’s match, I gotta say that, assuming I didn’t just see a whole crapload of fakes (and even then, I can’t exactly say the votes for the opposition are necessarily plentiful), the beginning indicates that this might actually go in Yayoi’s favor. A Precure performing a Kugimiya kill… I can’t help but laugh at the mere thought of it. Hisa might as well give her the block after that. Though in all seriousness, I do hope that she makes it to the quarterfinals, possibly even ousting Nagisa as the most moe Precure in history… ’cause she’s adorable and Smile’s too awesome of a series to deserve any less.

  3. Whoa…Nagi denied. Sad panda.

Moving on…today’s all about Chihaya and Peace. I like both girl’s chances here, especially Yayoi’s. And really, who really wants to vote against Peace? It’s PEACE!!

MadPanda…(that’d be like voting against Big Bird)…

  4. I… don’t understand. It wasn’t even Saki faction (when I chcecked the thread, Hisa’s supporters votes were distributed rather evenly), Louise legitimately beat Nagi. And there I was, thinking Round 3 will be too predictable.
