This result is confirmed.
Kobato tried to make a match out of it, but the Saki juggernaut wouldn’t be denied. The win officially confirms that the series will have a representative in the Quarterfinals. Yes, as if we needed enough assurance of the fact. Interestingly, this is the farthest point that our titular character has reached in the tournament. Saki and Koromo meeting in a final match? Where have we seen this before. Tacos will try to make sure that doesn’t happen though, but it will probably be in vain.
Akari does her part once again, ensuring that her impending match against Toki isn’t just another disappearing daydream. Mei looked like one of the stronger non-Saki bets left in the tourney, but she completely paled in comparison to Akarin. Not that we didn’t see this coming.
One of the things that following Saimoe in 2009 (and even before that) has taught me is that there is a certain pecking order in the Saimoe Saki hierarchy (note that this doesn’t include Achiga for obvious reasons). Unless there has been a huge disturbance in the force, today’s match involving Koromo and Tacos will prove once again that Koromo and Nodoka sit atop of the chain.
The Rie combo will make things mildly interesting, but we’ve seen this one misfire before in the previous round, and we’ll probably see that again. Toki will need no shifting in this one to pull off yet another comprehensive victory in what would be her last warm-up match before the main event of Saimoe pre-quarterfinals.
