Saki emerged victorious in their third Round 2 match-up against the idols as Subara continued her magnificent form to record a victory over Haruka. It was a close battle initally, but Subara pulled off in the final hours of the match to set up a Round 3 match against Yuru Yuri’s Yui. Elsewhere, Sanya ended her Round 2 jinx at the expense of Yayoi, and having recorded two magnificent victories, she is now the favorite to beat Sakuno and seal a place in the block finals. Could she perhaps replicate Erica’s run from last year? We shall see.

So moving on, we now enter the first day of the storm involving the Matsumi sisters. Kuro is up first, and she faces difficult opponents in the form of Nyaruko and Ryuuka. The latter being present does not help Kuro’s cause at all – in a match involving three prelim group winners, every single vote counts and the split might just work against Kuro’s favor even though Ryuuka is likely to be sacrificed. Will Kuro be able to do what Nodocchi did in 2010? Or will Nyaruko creep into Round 3, buoyed on by the announcement of a second season of her show? I’m leaning on Nyaruko for this one, but regardless of the outcome, expect the Saki faction to be out in full force as they also seek to avenge Shizuno’s defeat to Kuuko.

As for the other match-up, it could go any way really. Hibiki was probably the slight favorite, but after idolm@ster’s dreadful showing in the previous matchday, her odds of winning have to be reconsidered. While other old Saimoe veterans are faltering, Rin’s doing better than expected, aided by her loli form in F/Z. Char would probably have aced this had it been 2011, but she still has the capability to put up a good fight. While not particularly a crucial factor, she’ll also receive a few seiyuu combo votes with Kuro’s presence. This one is too close to call, so I’ll just go with statistics here – a Rin victory.

tl;dr Prediction: Nyaruko, Rin

      1. Meh… I would say that this faction died with Azusa for me (especially after they let her lose against, numbers wise, the weakest round 2 progresser FFS). However, I’m still going to pin some hope on Chihaya, especially if she should manage a Kugimiya kill.
