Close, but not quite.

Okay, so 40-plus margin of victory is still something a good amount, but that’s actually the closest that a challenger against Saki has been able to muster so far against Saki’s main guns. So this win not only denies a Saki vs. Idolmaster in Round Three (could’ve been Iori-Miki vs. Toki-Yuuki, which is actually still a lopsided match),  but further stretches Saki’s perfect streak in the current round. So why is this not called SakiMoe again? Idolmaster is still drawing blanks against aces, which they really need to do soon if they want to take it to the next level.

Speaking of taking it to another  level, Mei totally did, and we totally saw this coming. A real test however awaits her in the following round. But for now, savor the victory, Mei fans.

And that’s it for Blocks A and B, (un)fortunately, nothing suprising so far.

Predictions: 2-0 (8-0)

Picks: 0-2 (Mikimiki, Yozora) (4-4)

And since the two other matches have been formalized, time for a new set of polls:

On Deck:

Yeah, there’s Saki’s undefeated streak so far, but I’m quite sure it ends this match day. This is actually a good chance for im@s to bounce back, and I think they will.  Chihaya has been solid so far, and despite having Shizu on her aid, I don’t see Hajime stealing this one. Unless she cheats. (I kid, I kid).

Speaking of Shizu, she’s still riding high on that strong win over Toshinou Kyouko, clearly showing that she’s not someone to be monkeyed around with. Kuuko will have her hands full here, in yet another acid test for the Nyaruko faction. Her best shot here is to have Kyouko sympathizers (or anti-Saki in general, which have failed spectacularly so far in this round), rally around her, but as mentioned, no dice. As for Eila, as good as she was last round, I think she’s battling for second place.

  1. It would be truly amaezing if 13 Sakis advanced to Round 3 – Nodoka unfortunately has to kill Momo and Ryuuko will be sacrificed to give Kuro a chance against Nyarlko. Latter doesn’t seem too possible considering Group 9 strength but if they somehow pulled it off…

  2. Welp, Miki was close but it looks like it wasn’t enough to topple a top tier Saki. This basically confirms where the idols stand in power, and that’s right below the Sakis. The rest of them are also in tight situations so there’s a good chance nobody else will advance, except Chihaya. Now if she loses today…tables are going to be flipping.

  3. I don’t think Chihaya is stronger than Hajime and when you count in combo voting, there’s no hope for her. I wouldn’t say iM@S is right below Sakis, YY is much stronger, they just had terrible luck in draw (majority of cast had to fight against group winners [Mei and Shizu count as well because >Group 1]) while Idols got really lucky. Big problem of idolm@ster is lack of real ace, so they’d have no chance against Nyarlko, Mei, Chitandael or Sena. I’m not sure about Ika, Ririchyo, Yamada or even Kanna either. They did a good job beating weaker characters but it’s over when someone really strong stands in their way.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love if this tourney was SaiM@ster but our beloved Idols aren’t that strong…
It should have been Miki vs Makoto final…
