Nano wouldn’t be denied, with yet another victory for the Second Prelims qualifiers contingent, and the first for Nichijou this year. Again, them winning is not an everyday thing, unfortunately.
Saimoe bizarro land once again, for Hanairo – both Minchi and Nako made it to Round Two, but Ohana didn’t. As noted yesterday I kinda expected Shouko to go through, but hey at least, it was relatively close(?)
Speaking of close, Kana tried a last ditch effort to close the gap against LC, but yeah, not enough. I would have thought that Eu would compete harder, but instead it was Kana that got second place. LC still showing though that she’s still got the touch despite getting only the OVA treatment for qualification. In the KoreZon side of things, just like HanaIro, weird that Sera and Tomonori are in, while Eu (who is still winless in Saimoe) and Haruna are out. That’s luck of the draw for you.
Prediction: 2-1 (70-20)
Picks: 1-2 (Shouko, Eu) (50-40)
Penultimate match day for Round One.
Working as a faction is really looking good right now, so Poplar winning H03 is a no-doubter. I would be really surprised if she somehow drops this. Chitanda has been impressive. Can Mayaka follow suit by making this one competitive at the very least? There’s also Miu from PapaKiki who also has the potential (to contend for second place).
Mio’s stats look great, but unfortunately she’s from Group 14 (only she and Lotte remain as survivors from that group), so that’s not really saying much. Meanwhile, Saki’s from one of the groups of death, Group 9, so she may be stronger than her stats tell us. Nagi, the non-Sanzenin one, won’t really be much of a factor here. The strength difference might be too much for Saki to overcome, so at least for this match, Mio will prove that she’s the superior Hikasa.
Closing out the batch will be Minorin vs Yukimura vs Marika. The latter has a very good showing in a good group led by Atarashi Ako, so we can presume that she can quite pack a punch to at least win one match. Minorin will suffer the same fate as Ami – it’s been too long since that 2009 run, huh? Finally, Yukimura from Haganai. Nah, I don’t think s(he)’ll be able to overcome the captain. Ha ha time for piracy!
