Got the winners right, but I didn’t actually expect Kotori to make that much of a splash. She almost had the biggest win margin of the day, but Ika Musume responded with a torrent of votes in the end to make sure that she’ll get that title.
As aforementioned, first win for Amagami’s Ai. Ai is love, after all. Unfortunately, it had to be at the expense of other winless characters, Saku and Sawako, getting that 0-fer. That’s just how it goes.
Idolmaster stems the tide thanks to a timely performance by Kotori, while Ika Musume avoids getting stunned by KansaiMio to set up a blockbuster matchup against Atarashi Ako. True there wasn’t much voting fanfare today, but I sense that match will make up for this one.
Predictions: 3-0 (65-16)
Picks: 3-0 (47-34)
Very interesting day (also with plenty of fantasy implications). Yamada is the only lock here. Against two prelim qualifiers Rise and Habara, Yamada just needs to work a little and that R2 slot is hers. The other two are head-scratchers. What do?
For G04, Lan can be dismissed, I think, as impressive as Madoka’s win was a few matches ago. So it all comes down to Hina vs. Miyuki. We’ve seen what Precure can do, as evidenced by sterling wins by Cure Peace and Cure Beauty. This is a complicated match for Cure Happy though, since this is virtually PapaKiki’s debut in the elimination rounds (no offense to Raika, who coincidentally lost to Cure Beauty), so who knows what Hina is capable of. The prelim stats do favor Hina, but in the end, I have to go with the proven faction here. The combo with Akane might be key here, and I would just have to count on that.
Which brings us to G012. Minami is always a dangerous opponent, K-On’s Yui can attest to that. But BakaTest mojo is at an all-time low right now. Meanwhile, Yoshida Yuki is unproven in the Main Draw, dropping her opening match last year to Erica Hartmann. However, her prelims performance is decent at the very least, in a strong group, even. Lastly, there’s the other half of the Precure tandem on deck today, the sunny Akane. Will the combo get her through?
Unfortunately, someone’s got to give here. After much flip-flopping, I figured that Minami and Tomonori would have to give way here. Cure Sunny to prevail. Obviously both G04 and G12 are going to be close, but it’s all or nothing for Precure, even though they are statistical underdogs heading into their matches.
