Nothing too shocking here. Early returns had Subaru keeping pace with Kuro, but the trademark Saki endgame rush was enough to put things out of reach, setting up a block defining matchup with Ryuuka and the winner of today’s Nyaruko-Nadeko.
Yui rights the sinking YuruYuri ship with a much-needed win here, and she wasn’t troubled right at the start. We basically expected this.
Last on the list is Ririchiyo having a relatively easy victory over the Strike Witch stalwart Yoshika. I thought this one would be much more intense, but Ririchiyo did show that she might have what it takes to match up with Chitanda. Might is the keyword here. I’m stoked about that matchup, in any case.
Not a bad voter turnout today for Kuro’s match with 698 votes, but I actually expected a bit more – especially given that Yuu’s match had a whopping 911 votes in it. I’ll leave it up to speculation, but that 200 vote difference is quite something…
Predictions: 3-0 (54-15)
Picks: 3-0 (39-30)
F04: Kirame is set to have one of the biggest blowouts of the round, unless I am massively underestimating Sankarea, and overly hyping SUBARA. With a high stake match-up on the same day, I think Saki will ride the wave on this one and pull off another decisive win.
F08: Match of the Block perhaps? As aforementioned, the stakes here are huge. We’ll get to see if Nyaruko has what it takes to win it all. Getting matched with Nadeko is certainly not ideal, though I have to say that her 2010 packed more venom. Saki, presumably would rather go against Nadeko than Nyaruko in Round Two, so that adds even more intrigue in this encounter.
With Nise underwhelming as it is, I predict chaos will reign supreme, enough to overcome tactical votes going against her way.
F12: Finally, we have a tale of two factions going opposing paths – slumping Hidamari and the rising Idolmaster. The former is still looking for a single win this year and this might be their best chance to do so, but considering the way things are going for im@s, it’s an uphill battle. The expected outcome here is Takane being the eighth idol through to Round Two. Hidamari, however, will be delivering a valiant effort here to make it as close as possible.
