“Go My Way”
Seven wins in eight matches – it’s really going all Idolmaster’s way so far. Ohana couldn’t find her redemption here, but with the HanaIro movie slated, she’ll have another shot. So yeah, impressive win, possibly on par with Miki’s coup. I’m slowly becoming a believer again after the Prelims seem to dash hopes of an Idolmaster run, but I really won’t be convinced until they start beating aces.
Speaking of aces, Chitanda shows us again that she has that winning pedigree. Statement win here – Ririchiyo, Nyaruko, Kuro et. al, you all have been warned. Unless I’m getting my numbers wrong she has the second biggest win margin and vote percentage so far (only bested by the also fantastic Matsumi Yuu). Big, big win, perhaps the first of many to come?
Finally, more Saki struggles for their secondary characters as Sera pulls off the tsubame gaeshi to send the Bansei duo to the exits. Kinda weird that Haruna is out, and Sera is in for KoreZon. That’s Saimoe for you. Also of note, this is another win for a Second Prelim qualifier. I haven’t really keeping track (yet), but this has to be the most Second Prelim wins in recent memory.
Predictions: 1-2 (51-15)
Picks: 3-0 (36-30)
F03: The Holy Grail seems so distant for Iri, as F/Z will be taking their first loss here. Hidan no Aria will probably stay winless – I doubt Riko would be able to keep up with the fresher Funami Yui, despite YuruYuri’s ongoing slump in the opening round. This is the perfect time to break that losing streak for YRYR. This isn’t as bad as a matchup as the other Yurus got anyway.
F07: Sera vie. Bad pun aside, this is all about Kuro vs. Subaru. Mayo Chiki got a good win earlier against Saimoe veteran Isumi. It would be interesting how much challenge Subaru will give to Kuro – who may be predictable in mahjong, but I’m pretty sure she’s a powerhouse in Saimoe, don’t you think? In all seriousness, Subaru better channel her inner Index here or else she’ll get dragon’d out of the tournament fast.
F11: The most interesting match of the day has to be this one. Yoshika’s been one of the premiere Strike Witches, but the draw has always been tough on her – Nodoka in 2009 Second Round, and last year’s champ Mami in 2011 Third Round. And now she faces a stern test again, this time from the get-go: the Group 15 stalwart rookie Ririchiyo. Of course SW was just coming off a huge win with Sanya so it’s foolish to count out Yoshika here, but I believe Ririchiyo’s got this. The stats are in her favor, as well as her being “the new kid in the block” and that to me factors in to her gutting this one out in the end.
