Yuu better believe it.

Matsumi Yuu led this match from the beginning and never looked back. Score another one for Saki.Ika settles for second again, just like last year. NiseMono bounced back with an expected performance from Tsukihi.

LC still has enough to finish fourth, while Yune appears to find her comfort zone in fifth place. Fear didn’t get boxed out of the top 12 with a decent showing, same with the witches Gertrud and Shirley. Mikoto makes the cut.

As for the surprises, Penguindrum had enough punch as Himari had the right survival plan. Precure fans have plenty of reasons to smile as Cure Happy is happily in ninth. Finally Kill Me Baby’s unused chara killed the chances of two Saki characters’ (Mako and Hatsuse) attempt for direct qualification.

Now, time for a look at Group Three.

For the first time we’re looking at a group that’s not filled with Saki characters – Yumi’s the lone representative in this set.

Nevertheless, this is shaping up to be an interesting group. Based on what we’ve seen so far, the newcomers are making immediate impact. Yuu handily bested one of 2011’s best, Ika Musume, while Chitanda took group one.

I’m expecting another rookie to take this third group, even though there is plenty of veteran presence here, most notably 2007 and 2010 finalist and Hayate’s ace Sanzenin Nagi.

I can’t help but feel Kuroyukihime‘s going to garner the most votes in this one. The fact that her show is currently airing definitely helps. We’ll see if she measures up well against the “old guards.”

A Saimoe-relevant Yuruyuri character finally steps up in the plate as Chinatsu seems to be a lock in this one. The thing to watch out for is whether or not she can do well against this type of competition. I’m irrationally confident about this one.

I’m also expecting 2011 participants Yuno (Hidamari), Sherlock and Kokoro (Milky Holmes), Tooru (A-Channel), Char (Infinite Stratos) and Aria (Hidan no Aria) to advance, on account of them doing well last year (except for Sherlock, but she was up against an ace in round one).

As for the other “newcomers”, HagaNai’s Yozora‘s a good bet to sneak in, as well as a KugiRie-powered Iori. Eleven slots filled in, one to go.

In consideration are Hiro, (also from Hidamari), RKB’s Airi (who might do better than expected, KoreZon’s Sera (doubtful though), and of course Yumi.

Again I expect Black Lotus to win a close one, although let it be known that Nagi rarely loses in the Prelims. But after Izumi’s latest setback, I just have to deal with Kuroyukihime on this one.

TL;DR: A good bunch.

1.) Black Lotus 2.) Nagi 3.) Chinatsu 4.) Char 5.) Sherlock 6.) Kokoro

7-12.) Yuno, Aria, Tooru, Yozora, Iori, Airi

Lun’s take: 1.) Kuroyukihime 2.) Nagi 3.) Iori 4.) Char 5.) Chinatsu
