Tiro Finale

1    407    Tomoe Mami @ Puella Magi Madoka ☆ Magica
2    392    Kaname Madoka @ Puella Magi Madoka ☆ Magica

Quite the finish for an intra-series match with final rushes being the deciding factors. I was following the voting threads, Mami had an early rush at the beginning of the match (33 minutes in), giving her the early advantage and riding it all the way until Madoka rallied.  With 15 minutes remaining in the voting period, Mami pulled off this beautiful rush, giving her the lead for good, albeit Madoka had a rush scheduled 2 minutes before the match ended. Interestingly, the thread the Madoka was supposed to rush in was cut short by a DESU spam, (although there is an available alternative thread), so we can only guess how it affected Madoka’s momentum (with not a lot of time to adjust even).

Even then, this is quite a match that had a feel of championship match, if you go beyond the intraseries rivalry and the dwindling vote totals. It was really hard to tell who’s gonna pull it off in the end, and would Madoka’s final rush would be enough, and as we know it, it wasn’t enough for the goddess.

In any case, Madoka Magica faction can still celebrate this another victory for the franchise, and now we have an unlikely pair squaring off for all the marbles. So yeah, again, for a match that featured only a single series, I have to say, this is quite good stuff. Not the most compelling of the myriads of matches I have seen before, but certainly, this has been a good match for a certain perspective.

And the last of my picks exits the tournament. Like I mentioned yesterday, I would not be surprised if Mami nicked it, and she managed to pull it off! The best performing Puella Magi of the tourney so far showed that her record wasn’t just for show, as she with-held the challenge of Madoka to head into the finals. What an impact three episodes can make, eh?

Fantastic stuff today. Hopefully, the finals will feature the same intensity as today’s match. Nothing much more for me to say for now, so check out the preview of the finals later on as Saimoe takes a one-day break.

Still feels weird to have the mc lose to someone who was only alive for 3 episodes….

Well, compared to Mami, Madoka took a longer time to form an impression on viewers.

Ok, now I’m finally mad. Hoping Kyouko to win this, as hard as it will be.

I just realized, no matter who wins in the final match, they’ll be the first winner with the least appearances in the series they were in.

Kyouko: Appeared in only 8 of the 12 episodes
    Mami: Appeared in only 5

Even though Asuza was only around for 6 episodes during the first season of K-ON plus the OVA, she didn’t win that year, and was around almost the entire time during the year she won.

So either way, they break a record. This last match is just to determine how high the bar will be set.

I think this was a fair result. Madoka gets third, and Mami is likely to get first based on this result. This crown is the pretty mama’s to lose. And to be honest with you guys…Mami would make a great mommy. Least hated, great proportions, a nice girl all around…essentially a future housewife in desperate need of a soon-to-be man-of-the-house to keep her company for as long as they are together.

    Bring on the Clasico Tirosso.

Wouldn’t Madoka get 4th if we are solely basing ranking on total votes? I think that’s how people determined 3rd and 4th places in past saimoes. Madoka had 2217 total while Erica had 2268. If so, thats a really impressive accomplishment for the Witch.
