Walpurgis Not

posters, previews, results

SF1
1    509    Sakura Kyouko @ Puella Magi Madoka ☆ Magica
2    334    Erica Hartmann @ Strike Witches 2

No difficulties for Kyouko today as she smashes Erica to ensure that the finals will be an all Puella Magi affair. Erica kept the gap below 100 votes before the final hour, but she was overwhelmed by the PMMM’s strong final rush. For Erica, her fairytale journey comes to an end, but it has been an amazing feat as no one expected her to come this far.

So the penultimate match in this tournament sees Madoka duelling it out with Mami for a spot in the finals. Once again, Madoka is the favourite here since she’s the main girl of the show. However, Mami must not be underestimated, as she has the best overall record amongst the Puella Magis in this tournament so far. While Mami managed to set the highest vote tally in this year’s tournament in her match against Ika, the highest number of votes Madoka was able to achieve was only 421 votes, back in Round 3. However, Mami will inevitably lose a portion of her support here, so it’ll be interesting to see how it goes. It’s really up to the other Puella Magi backers to decide how this one will go, and Kyouko backers could probably have a great influence here as they decide which course of action would improve Kyouko’s chance of a finals victory. I’ll be going for a Madoka win, though I will not be surprised at all if Mami nicks it.

  1. Well, there goes… Erica wining would have made it quite interesting, and at least a bit suspenceful, now it’s a Madoka circlejerk…

This year’s Saimoe is quite a disappoitment

  2. Everyone is either mad at the all-Madoka final, calling everyone from the former butthurt madoka haters, or rooting for Kyouko (since it seems most head-on Madoka fans don’t root for her). Yup, that’s saimoe for you.

Here’s hoping next year’s vote totals increase. After all, we have the return of the tsunderies, HnG in general and the Fate franchise, so it may be the veteran’s year. And there’s also the debut of Im@s. If only japan would let us vote…

In the meantime, I’m rooting for Madoka today and Kyouko in the final.

  3. Madoka > Homura = Mami > Kyouko >= Everyone else this year >= Sayaka
    for me

Looks like Madoka is losing hard right now though. I guess the first 11 episodes were too much even for Godoka.

  4. Looks like a meme will win it all, basically. Interesting. Or not. I would love it if the butthurt haters pushed Big Eater to the top, however.

Next year, Don’t the japs love lolis? They are moé too. I know that I will root for Ro-Kyu-bu!. Mokkan all the way to the finals. Well, she and the returning Her MajestIKA.

  5. Now I can’t even tell who’s winning because the only vote tracker is Japanese and both characters are from the same series…

Anyway, I guess…I’ll be fine no matter who wins. Madoka because she’s title character, Mami because she’s the veteran, or Kyouko because she’s the goddamn Red Ranger.

Good job, girls. You did it. Good friggin job.

    1. You should try learning Kana. It’s not so difficult and very useful. It shouldn’t take more than a week or two. Just sayin’.

  6. I’ll miss you Erica. Had my vote forever and was crossing my fingers for you but I’m honestly extremely surprised you’ve even made it this far, lol. Q_Q

Honestly I have no clue who to predict with this final lineup… my pick is Mami though. I’m still shell shocked Kyouko is anywhere in here, I must be the only person on the planet that disliked her…
