Winter’s Grasp

Miki Sayaka became the second Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica representative in the Quarterfinals of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2011, defeating Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai’s Haqua d’Rot Herminium in the Block Finals.

Like Kaname Madoka before her, Sayaka led from the start and even expanded her lead even further in the closing moments to keep the match out of reach. The win was also Madoka Magica’s fourteenth straight win after Charlotte and more notably, Akemi Homura, lost their opening matches.

Next up:

I have nothing much to say – Sayaka turned on the style again and continues to receive more votes than Madoka herself. TWGOK’s first foray into Saimoe comes to an end, but on the whole, I think they’ve exceeded initial expectations.

Mami vs Shirayuki today – the latter has done well to reach this far, though she was partly aided by strategic voting schemes. However, Mami’s probably the strongest Puella Magi contestant out there, and Shirayuki’s run should come to an abrupt end here.

Pick: Mami
