Hell to Pay

Kaname Madoka easily clinched an Anime Saimoe Tournament 2011 Quarterfinals berth, as she garnered 64% of the votes against Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai ace Elysia de Lute Ima. The win stretched Madoka’s Main Draw win streak to thirteen after starting the opening round with two losses.

Madoka joins Astarotte no Omocha’s Astarotte Ygvar and Strike Witches’ Erica Hartmann in the top eight.

2 232 Elucia de Lute Ima (Elsie) @ Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai series

On deck:

Like I expected, the multi-voting saga didn’t affect Madoka, and she cruises into the quarter finals. Elsie could not even put up a fight, and with no signs of a resistance so far, will anyone be able to halt the Puella Magis’ march to the crown?

Well, one of the contestants who could probably do so is Ika Musume, and she’s up against Yuno today. Ika’s been whipping her opponents with her tentacles in the past three rounds, but Yuno’s been doing that too, albeit with a smaller vote count and with a paintbrush. In that sense, this represents their first real test in the main round, so it’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top – the exciting newcomer or the evergreen veteran. Of course, Yuno supporters would be keen to break her duck of faltering during the block finals, and they might be backed by strategic voters, seeing that Ika’s a genuine threat. However, Ika’s advantage lies in the fact that the second season of her show is ongoing right now, and with Mini-Ika fresh in the mind of voters after the most recent episode, the squid would probably seize victory over here.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Madoka the first SHAFT girl to make it to the Top 8?

yeah, you’re correct. I needed to confirm that by checking the older shows just in case we might be missing something and in the process got to learn on which studios were involved in the pre-2005/2006 (i.e. before “modern era”)

      CCS – Madhouse
      Azumanga – JC
      Nadja – Toei
Daphne on Brilliant Blue – JCSTAFF/Genco
      DNAngel XEBEC/Tv Tokyo
      Gunparade March – JC
      Kiddy Grade – GONZO/KyoAni
      Spiral – JC
Figure 17 – Oriental Light and Magic
      Daa! Daa! Daa! – JC
      Pita Ten – Madhouse
      Kaleido Star – GONZO
      Madlax – BEE TRAIN
      Tobe! Isami – Group TAC
      Wandaba Style – Wonder Farm
      Stratos 4 – Studio Fantasia
      Galaxy Angel – Madhouse
Gad Guard – GONZO/Hal Film Maker
      Mujin Wakusei Survive – Madhouse
      Futari wa Precure – Toei
Zoids Genesis – Shogakukan Music & Digital Entertainment

TL:DR Good question, we learned something new in this process.

Any Diomedia? Because if not, Lotte and Ika would be the first from that studio too. Also AIC Build for OreImo.

AFAIK Lotte and Ika are the only Diomedea representatives. As for AIC, they worked on Bamboo Blade as well as Strike Witches 2.
