Before I begin, I would like to apologize for the absence of the daily Saimoe Reporter motif. frustra is still nowhere to be seen, but I’m sure he’ll do them up once he returns. SR added. -frustra
Haruna secures the sole victory for KoreZom in R1…
Good wins for Haruna and Kuroko, with the teleporter now having the best vote % among the Raildex girls in Round 1. Kazuha did better than I expected, but it still wasn’t enough to deny Agnese from grabbing a Round Two spot.
On to the next day! One match that has been eagerly anticipated since the beginning of the main round. Kuroneko of Oreimo vs Sherlock of Milky Holmes. Kuroneko’s one of the hot favorites to win Block H and perhaps even the whole tourney itself, but first she faces a difficult obstacle in the form of Sherlock. First, let’s take a look at some statistics:
Sherlock 337 votes – 33.87% of the votes – 3rd in Group 12
Kuroneko 358 votes – 55.59% of the votes – 1st in Group 11
Best 3 Milky Holmes – 870 votes – average vote % of 40.09%
Best 3 Oreimo – 1037 votes – average vote % of 47.18%
Best 3 Milky Holmes – 624 votes – average vote % of 50.30%
Best 3 Oreimo – 825 votes – average vote % of 46.77%
While Kuroneko has definitely in perhaps one of the weakest prelims groups, the fact that she was able to command such a high vote count on an uneventful day shows the amount of raw power she has. In terms of faction power, it’s obvious that top Oreimo characters are able to command more votes than that of Milky Holmes. While the Best 3 Milky Holmes performers has a higher average vote % in Round 1, they did face far easier opponents than their Oreimo counterparts.
tl;dr Stats favor Kuroneko
Of Group H rivals, Houki and Aria supporters might want to take action as today’s match-up represents one of the best chances to eliminate Kuroneko. IS has been one of the best performing series in R1, and they probably had a hand in the events that took place in Block F. Will they be active today? They might want to be careful though, as Houki’s Round 2 match falls on the same day as Kirino’s, and Houki’s opponent, Kanon, is no push-over…
So in the end, I guess I’ll go for a Kuroneko win. This match certainly has the vibes of the Hinagiku-Mafuyu match last year – but perhaps the difference in this case is the fact that Kuroneko and Sherlock are both new faces.
Picks: Houki, Taeko
Prediction: Houki, Ikaros, Kuroneko
