Sakura Kyouko finished off Mahou Shouko Madoka Magica’s opening round campaign with flair, routing K-On’s Tainaka Ritsu and Sora no Woto’s Sorami Kanata, for the series’ fourth straight win. The Puella Magi will engage Charlotte E. Yeager (Strike Witches) and Toudou Tsumugi (Hoshizora he Kakaru Hashi) in the following round.
Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai’s Aragaki Ayase also delivered a romp of her own, at the expense of Hidari Sketch’s Nazuna and Shinryaku! Ika Musume’s Sakura Kiyomi. Ayase will battle Tantei Opera Milky Holmes’ Akechi Kokoro and Amagami’s Rihoko Sakurai for a Third Round berth.
Morishima Haruka overpowered Fortunate Arterial’s Yuuki Haruna and Kuze Kiriha for Amagami’s second win in as many days. She’s slated to face Angel Beats’ Yui and Kaichou wa Maid-sama’s Ayuzawa Misaki in Round Two.

Predictions: 3-0 (61-23)
Picks: 2-1 (38-45-1)
Free day for Saimoe predictors. I don’t think anyone in their right mind would have gone worse than 3-0 in this one, so yeah.
Impressive wins for three hot franchises of Saimoe 2011. And with that, we’re just 4 match days away from an even more exciting Second Round.
Not much to say, except excellent closeout by Madoka and Amagami. OreImo’s not out of it yet, as an anticipated matchup against Milky Holmes looms.
More on that on the days to come, but for now, time for Block H:
Group 15 5th 203 28.23% Nakagawa Kanon @ Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai series
Group 15 9th 173 24.06% Ookami Ryouko @ Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi
Group 16 16th 115 14.54% Nyaruko @ Haiyoru! Nyaruani: Remember My Love (craft-sensei)
>A Prelim Group rematch in consecutive days. Ryouko gets the receving end of Kanon’s taser once again.
We’ve seen how capable the upper-tier of KamiNomi characters are (LC styling, Haqua’s ousting of Azusa). The bad news for Ryouko is that Kanon belongs in that upper-tier, making this a no-brainer.
Group 12 8th 179 28.14% Marui Hitoha @ Mitsudomoe series
Group 8 16th 88 10.77% Sangou Shizuku @ Kämpfer für die Liebe
Group 15 26th 67 9.32% Celty Sturluson @ Durarara!!
>This situation is not warui for Hitoha at all. Okay. That was terrible. P1 vs P2ers yeah yeah yeah.
Bad pun or not, Hitoha’s definitely heading to Round Two anyway.
Group 13 23th 87 11.08% Tokugawa Sen @ Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls
Group 16 15th 123 15.55% Yamanaka Sawako @ K-ON!!
Group 11 4th 196 30.43% Miyako @ Hidamari Sketch x ☆☆☆ Tokubetsu-hen
>Good day sunshine!
Just take care of business here and all-time win number 26 is in the bag.
As for K-On, I’ll just quote Saimoe Anon’s poster: “This is the way it ends, not with a bang but with a whimper.”
Looks like another 3-0 day. Maybe I can prepare the headlines in advance again?
Prediction: Kanon, Hitoha, Miyako
Picks: Kanon, Celty, Miyako
Good wins for all the three expected victors. This is only the 2nd time whereby all winners in a match-day are able to obtain >50% of the votes in their respective match-ups – the other was on 1st September. Straight-forward indeed.
Moving on to the next day, Kanon and Miyako should have no problems going through to the next round- the former being one of the aces of her show, the latter facing characters who do not have much backing. Perhaps Shizuku could provide a challenge for Hitoha, but she did succumb to a loli in R1 last year in the form of Kanamemo’s Kana. It’ll probably be the same here.
Picks: Kanon, Shizuku
Prediction: Kanon, Hitoha, Miyako
