Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen added another victory to Strike Witches’ cause as she pounded Dragon Crisis’ Rose in the Block G opener. Settling for third place was Senjou no Valkyria’s Isara Gunther.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama’s Ayuzawa Misaki garnered her first-ever Saimoe victory at the expense of Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoki’s Hoshimiya Yashiro and Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu’s Kudou Aiko.

In the third match, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes ramped up its winning streak to five matches as Akechi Kokoro easily put away Nurarihyon no Mago’s Oikawa Tsurara and Astarotte no Omocha’s Elfleda Mirjasdottír.

Predictions: 2-1 (53-22) ; Picks: 2-1 (31-43-1)

Yep, slighting the Witches is never a good plan and it bites me back again. I am definitely pleased with this development though, as my picks all advanced. I guess the surprise of the day was that none of the matches were close. I expected the Eila-Rose to be quite contested, same with Misaki-Yashiro.

Nothing else much to say, as this was not really the most interesting way to start to Block to be honest, but the next batch promises to be explosive (at least for the first two matches):

G02
Group 10 18th 78 9.45% Suehiro Anna @ Hourou Musuko
Group 6 9th 177 22.32% Tooyama Saku @ Tantei Opera Milky Holmes
Group 16 2nd 323 40.83% Index @ To Aru Majutsu no Index II

>Of course Index will get her very first Saimoe win at the expense of two characters that I like. Just like Maria did in 2009 against Touka. It’s quite the bittersweet feeling.

It would be tragic if Index ends up choking this one. She has the combo support this time, so I’m gonna rename the Rein Zwei memorial award in her honor instead if she ends up being trolled by Saku.

G06
Group 11 16th 95 14.75% Miho @ A Channel
Group 8 7th 241 29.50% Tsukuyomi Komoe @ To Aru Majutsu no Index II
Group 1 8th 164 30.09% Yui @ Angel Beats!

>Pink on pink, and man, Komoe has to be one of the more consistent Raildex characters in Saimoe. She just doesn’t lose in the first round, and she probably won’t lose here again. A new streak in the making? Index gets to combo this time against Angel Beats. Revenge for 2010, oh yes.

Veeeery interesting. I’m still not convinced that Angel Beats is back and alive and well after that Tenshi styling since it was against Mugi, (K-0n, etc). While Raildex has slipped a little, Komoe is quite a threat. Again, she hasn’t lost in the first round, and second round, even, so Yui might need some rocking to do to avoid being schooled and being combo’d back.

G10
Group 15 18th 104 14.46% Ranka Lee @ Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa
Group 6 21st 78 9.84% Morita Mayu @ Morita-san wa Mukuchi
Group 14 9th 108 19.64% Toudou Tsumugi @ Hoshizora he Kakaru Hashi

>I don’t have enough Korneheisers for this. Tsumugi wins in an EXCITING match. Note the obvious sarcasm.

Hurps and durps. HoshiKaka has the strongest faction of the three (this isn’t 2008 anymore), so I’ll default to that.

Prediction: Windex, Little moe, Tsumugi
Picks: Windex, Yui-nyan, Ranka

Index and Yui were on the same match day last year, the latter aiding Tenshi in an Angel combo to oust Index. Yui and Komoe were also in the same match day in the second round, and both ended up advancing to the third round.

===LUN HIJACK===
Finally, 3-0 in predictions lol. Was expecting Rose to trouble Eila a lil’, but the lack of the tsun attribute was probably a factor as the loli dragon proved to be no match for the witch.

So today’s matches are rather straight-forward, Index should win her match-up unless Kirino fans want to play it safe. Even if that happens, I doubt Index is in any trouble though as the other contenders for Block G would be keen to back Index up so that she’ll provide Kirino with a stern test.

Komoe-sensei should be able to get through thanks to block-voting; I genuinely believe that with the exception of Tenshi, AB is done and dusted, and while the last match-up of the day might seem tricky, Tsumugi of Hoshi Kaka has an edge over Mayu in terms of popularity and should be able to defeat Ranka as new faces are preferred in this year’s tournament.

Picks: Saku, Komoe
Prediction: Index, Komoe, Tsumugi
