Strike Witches’ Sanya Litvyak survived an intra-series encounter against Francesca Lucchini to become the third Witch to advance to the Second Round of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2011. Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi’s Usami Mimi was the odd girl out, finishing third. With the victory, Sanya will be going against Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai’s Elysia de Lute Ima and Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru’s Arashiyama Hotori.
Laura Bodewig accounted for the second win for Infinite Stratos, dispatching both Maria Holic’s Miyamae Kanako and Kimi ni Todoke’s Kuronuma Sawako.
Hoshizora he Kakaru Hashi’s Koumoto Madoka also progressed to the next round, keeping Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka winless as Seraphim only managed second place. Third place went to Rebecca Anderson (Dog Days).
1 201 Laura Bodewig @ Infinite Stratos
2 93 Miyamae Kanako @ Maria†Holic Alive
3 82 Kuronuma Sawako @ Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season
1 203 Sanya V. Litvyak @ Strike Witches 2
2 109 Francesca Lucchini @ Strike Witches 2
3 68 Usami Mimi @ Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi
1 162 Komoto Madoka @ Hoshizora he Kakaru Hashi
2 128 Seraphim (Sera) @ Kore wa Zombie Desuka?
3 70 Rebecca Anderson (Becky) @ Dog Days
Well, that went as expected. There’s not much to deduce from these results, except that Sanya is looking like the strongest witch, and it would be an interesting clash between aces as she goes against LC next round. Also yeah, expectedly underwhelming match since this previous set doesn’t have the “hot matches.” 3-0’d predictions again (22-11), and 1-2 in picks (11-22). Next.
Group 13 7th 203 25.86% Yuzurizaki Nero @ Tantei Opera Milky Holmes
Group 5 20th 88 10.40% Watanabe Kanako (President) @ Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto
Group 15 13th 152 21.14% Shokatsuryou Koumei (Shuri) @ Shin Koihime†Musou series
>I won’t be shocked if Nero sets this match on fire.
Pretty straightforward match to kick off Block D. Shuri might make this a contest, but in the end, Nero will still prevail.
Group 7 14th 102 15.27% Chiba Saori @ Hourou Musuko
Group 15 8th 187 26.01% Tougi Shiro @ Fortune Arterial: Akai Yakusoku
Group 7 28th 64 9.58% Sakai Hina @ Hoshizora he Kakaru Hashi
>It won’t be a whitewash but basically Shiro will take out two second prelim’ers. You know the drill.
This is one of those instances where numbers simply tell the story. Surprise me again, Saimoe.
Group 4 15th 114 15.34% False Ika Musume (Tokita Ayumi) @ Shinryaku! Ika Musume
Group 4 3rd 285 38.36% Last Order @ To Aru Majutsu no Index II
Group 14 3rd 179 32.55% Sakurai-sensei @ Nichijou
>And the Last (Order) shall be the first.
To wrap up one of my shortest AST writeups yet, Last Order will end this match in short order. Awww yeah, multiple puns.
TL;DR – it isn’t even too long.
Predictions: Nero, Shiro, Last Order
Picks: Kanako, Saori, Last Order
As for Manga Saimoe, it was break day (happens once every three matches, apparently), so please do refer to my previous post for the preview for that spicy fourth group. The sidebar is updated daily, so do check the character list to know who are exactly on deck for Group Four.
Lastly, to make up for the lack of MTG yesterday, let’s fill this with cards I brewed up days ago (backlog much?)
Pretty straightforwards wins for Laura, Sanya and Madoka. I was hoping that Sera would at least prove to be a handful for the latter, but it wasn’t meant to be.
So moving on to the next block, the one in which Ika Musume is the clear frontrunner. Nero vs Shuri for the first match-up – Koihime Musou doesn’t escape the veteran’s rot too, so I imagine that Nero should grab the victory over here. D-05 features three low-key characters, but Shiro of Fortune Arterial has a superior prelim record than the other two so she’s the logical choice. As for the final match-up for the day, expect the Raildex faction and the lolicon squadron to propel Last Order into the next round.
Pick: Last Order
Prediction: Nero, Shiro, Last Order
