After a one-day break, we’re back to more Saimoe action. Let’s get down to business
Group 5 17th 119 14.07% Urushibara Ruka @ Steins;Gate
Group 5 11th 206 24.35% Kagura @ Gintama’
Group 7 13th 109 16.32% Ingrid Sorveig Sorgríms (Ini) @ Astarotte no Omocha!
>Truth be told I’m not sure if Kagura already has a Saimoe win, but in any case, I think she is primed to take one this year as this is essentially a rematch of Prelim One Group Five. Feyris comboing with Ruka wasn’t even enough to carry both of them in that tight group. We’ll see if the past few episodes of S;G raise Ruka’s stock, but don’t count on it.
Assuming KaguraHASNOWINS, I’m quite sure she’s due for one eventually, and this is the perfect chance to do it. She almost doubled up Ruka in the prelims after all, so I don’t think the latter is much of a threat to her. Then there’s Ingrid, but I don’t think she can touch Kagura. Stranger things have happened in Saimoe, but this one looks clear-cut to me.
Group 13 8th 172 21.91% Eclair Martinozzi @ Dog Days 785
Group 10 18th 78 9.45% Kamiki Izumo @ Ao no Exorcist 825
Group 13 12th 150 19.11% Kinoshita Yuuko @ Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu: Matsuri 785
>Eclair is not the underdog here. So far, so good. She’s done it once of Yuuko in the prelims, of course she wil do it again.
Ricotta did well in a midcard match despite falling short to Tooru, and I’m presuming that Eclair is stronger than her.Yuuko should be weaker than Tooru too, so there’s that. Yuuko has the currently-airing series advantage going for her, but that’s barely enough.
Group 14 1st 285 51.82% Elucia de Lute Ima (Elsie) @ Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai series 550
Group 2 11th 140 24.96% Agnes Boulange @ Shukufuku no Campanella 561
Group 8 13th 155 18.97% Kumashiro Maya @ Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin 817
>Elysia/Elucia/LC/Elsea’s relatively easy march to the block finals begins with a routine win.
Expect this to be a blowout. LC will have us confused here with her inflated numbers, but it matters not when your bracket has you going pretty good.
Relatively predictable day. Let’s see if Saimoe surprises us anew.
Prediction: Kagura, Eclair, LC
Picks: Kagura, Yuuko, Maya
I’m just gonna fill up this post with more Saimoe-themed MTG cards. As usual, their actual counterparts in the Gatherer.
Nothing much for me to add on as the matches for today are rather straight-forward. Well, there might be a battle between Kagura and Ruka, who probably has a greater series backing but I think it won’t be enough for the latter to push through. Ini has the loli factor, but it is unfortunate that she received too lil screentime in her series.
Picks: Ini, Eclair, Maya
Prediction: Kagura, Eclair, Elsie
In any case, I’ve prepared some statistics based on Block A and B so far, which can be viewed here. There are six sheets in there: 1- by group, 2- by no. of votes, 3- by vote percentage, 4- by series, 5- by series (total votes) and 6 – by series (vote percentage averages). I would probably update the stats after the first round matches are completed for each block from now on.
