Hmm, 10 of 12 in predictions. Gave too much credit for lolAsobi and HoshiKaka. Togame managed to make it though, and completely forgot about Hotori. All is good. As for picks, went 8-2-0 with Aoi and Ferris missing the cut and relegated to Round 2.
Dog Days is the top dog for now, but I’m still not convinced. Well, not yet anyway. Merry underperformed, but nothing compared to the Angel Beats performance by Yui. I guess I might have nailed it as marking them as has-beens as they Yui completely looked like one. This is not the Yui that upended Index in last year’s prelims and did well in the main draw.
The rest performed as expected I guess, the major ones, anyway, and Anaru might be living up to the popularity of the show. Might this be the year that noitaminA finally breaks through?
For today’s match, quite underwhelming, but interesting anyway. This is a battle of sleeper series Milky Holmes and KoreZon. The latter has the advantage as Eucliwood is presumably their ace. Kokoro can hang out with her, but we shall see. Uiharu from Raildex will also make matters interesting. Those three are locks.
Also considered as locks for main draw are Erica (Strike Witches) Shouko (BakaTest), Hakase (Nichijou), Yami (TLR) and Ayumi (KamiNomi). Rounding out the top twelve will probably be Mio (MM), Rei (HotD), Agnes (Campanella) and Setsuna (Negima).
Quite a tough group to predict but I’m looking forward to the performances KoreZon and Milky Holmes.
Today’s results provided an interesting insight on the power levels of certain series. I’ve stated in my earlier post that Milhi was capable of carrying the flag for Dog Days, so I wasn’t too shocked about her victory today. However, I was suprised at how poorly Merry performed, and since she’s the top girl from her series, this does not bode well for Yumekui’s chances in the main round. Same goes for Angel Beats franchise, with Yui putting up a subpar performance. However, I hold the belief that there will still be decent support for Kanada/Tenshi when her turn comes.
Another result worth noting about is Miya finishing in fifth. For a side character, this was pretty impressive. I think I might have underestimated the strength of the Amagami SS series, and I’m now expecting even greater things to come from the main girls.
Moving on to Group 2, I’d wager that it’ll be a close fight for first place between Eu and Uiharu, with the former probably able to edge it since she is the MC of her series. Kokoro is one of the top picks from Milky Holmes, so it’ll be interesting to see where she ends up.
