Madoka SOS!

In one match, all three puella magi loses brilliantly to tough but not powerful contestants. Akemi Homura faced Haruna, a Top 16 in the Nomination Round, and got beaten by 1041 votes, which would turn out to be the least painful defeat of the three. Kaname Madoka was soundly defeated by a true mahou shoujo, Fate Testarossa, by 2383 votes, and Fujibayashi Kyou surged ahead of Tomoe Mami by 1568 votes.

I’d imagine that if you receive 4000+ votes, then you have a good chance at being in the Top 16 later. That means Mio, Mikoto, Shana, Azusa, Hinagiku, Taiga, and Yuki looks good as expected. Haruhi came close also, and she’ll probably sneak in due to the movie. Yuri looks incredibly good, especially against Index, who’s currently airing.

Squiddie doesn’t look so good there, barely winning over a Seitokai character, who isn’t exactly strong. Nozomi surprised me, coming from a fanservice anime pulling off a win over a Kami Nomi character who’s supposed to be strong. France, China, and Japan (IS) all pull off wins and Charlotte looks amazingly powerful there.

But the story of the day is Nanoha losing to Nymph, which just shows how much MSLN has fallen. Even though Fate didn’t make Double Elimination last year, Nanoha is still ranked 33rd over Nymph’s 46th. The MSLN movie certainly didn’t do much.

And Rozen Maiden is officially dead. Second part’s coming up after huge table of text…

Wait, wasn’t Rose a Top 16 nominee? *checks* Yes, damn, Kugyuu fans get yourself together…or maybe K-ON is just that scary.

Holy crap did Kanade get over 6000 votes? First prediction of the year: Kanade wins tiara. We all know I am better at this than frustra, right? Sadly, Kanon didn’t even attempt to hinder Kanade, so it seems like both Madoka Magica and Kami Nomi won’t be big players in ISML this year.

Back to Madoka Magica, even though Haruna was a Top 16 nominee, I never expected her to be really powerful, but she beat Homura and Chizuru quite easily. Based on Nanoha’s performance in the previous match, most expected Madoka to beat Fate, but we all got trolled thre. And Mami’s sympathy vote didn’t get her anywhere close to Kyou. It’s going to be interesting to see if Clannad can be powerful this year.

Kirino and Kuroneko joins the 5000+ club along with Eucliwood Hellscythe. Kore wa Zombie is stronger than I thought, and Kuroneko may be looking at Top 4 and a Tiara contender. Ayase beat Saten-san in the first match too, so Oreimo isn’t going anywhere.

And the story of today is Yui-nyan beating Holo. We knew Angel Beats is powerful in ISML, but this? Holo was ranked 21st last year. Yui-nyan didn’t have the attributes that ISML voters usually like, tsundere/kuudere, but rather a genki sort of character. All in all, it was quite a beating, which makes me think she can actually beat Saber in I-4.

Wait, Rozen Maiden won a match? Wtf Suiseiseki desu.

Comments and rage for the already-happened I-3 will be included with I-4 during results day. By how many votes will Kirino beat Fate?

    Well done Kholdy.

It’s still early in the season, so it won’t be easy to determine whether Zombie and IS girls can maintain their strong performance throughout the year. I think they will start losing momentum rapidly in few months. I can see Charlotte and moemancer stay stronger than the rest though. The change in eligibility this year certainly made Winter 2011 participants stronger for now, because Winter 2011 anime girls continue to enjoy extended exposure.
