Maid of Gold

Maria ensured a clean sweep for Hayate no Gotoku! in the Second Round of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010 after she overcame an early deficite and eventually withstood a late rally from Saki’s Takei Hisa to secure her first career Block Finals appearance. Maria’s followed up from sterling performances Sanzen’in Nagi and Saginomiya Isumi as Hayate went three for three in the Round Two. The third place finisher for the much-anticipated match was Konori Mii from To Aru Kagaku no Railgun.

In the Block D match, Hanamaru Youchien’s lone representative in the Second Round took it a step further as Yamamoto Nanako clinched her slot to the Block Finals after handily beating Hidamari Sketch’s Hiro. Aruruu from Utawarerumono rounded out the matchup.

For me the only match that really mattered in the end was the Hisa-Maria match, and it delivered. In fact it’s the closest match of the Second Round so far, and it was entertaining to follow from start to finish. So yeah, Maria won, and for the first time after years of Saimoe futility, she looks set to get out of Block C as its representative in the Quarterfinals. Definitely there are still lots of contingencies for her to deal with, but gotta love her chances right now. I know I do, because what we’re gonna be having is an actual split vote in the Block Finals. But that’s for later.

Too bad Hisa had to be the one to go, but this is Saimoe. It just can’t be helped ;_;. Curse, thee Random God, I guess? As for the other match, that was also surprising, because it was not as close as I thought it would be in the end. Hiro’s out, and I thought Hidamari had the superior mojo. That probably still holds true, but I guess Nananko really is the top Hanamaru character. Not that I really mind though, because she is okay, and Erino Hazuki is just love. And that rounds up a satisfying Saimoe day for me, hope the good times roll.

Last set of matches before a much-needed one day break.

Coinflip. I have no idea who really is stronger in the end: Mihoko or Captain. Both are semifinalists last year so no need to doubt their raw strength, they are capable of getting far. But one of them has to pack it up early, unfortunately (insert curse thee random god, again). But yeah, in the end i went with Nodoka. No apparent reason, because it really just is a coinflip and i have no idea. Only thing i’m sure is that Hajime’s not winning this match. Anyway, my support goes to Captain.

This might be interesting, considering the Saki faction will be out in full force again today they’ll probably want to influence the outcome of the other match at hand. Kurimu should win easily based on raw power and mojo superiority, but based on the aforementioned participation by Saki today, it might be a close fight between Kurimu and Amano Saki. Kaichou vs. Dairi. Intriuging, anyway you look at it, but at the end of it all, I think Saki’s plan to make it easier Koromo will fall short. Kurimu to prevail, and she’s my vote.

So again, 1-day break after this one which I really need to catch up on some Saimoe stuff (poster backlog etc). Whew.
