The Kugumiya Rie combination of Shana and Sanzen’in Nagi easily advanced to their respective Block Finals as the last set of Second Round matches for Blocks A and B of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010 concluded Thursday.
Shana for her part defeated Hidamari Sketch’s Nazuna and Clannad’s Fujibayashi Ryou. She’s slated to meet Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha’s Takamachi Nanoha and Hayate no Gotoku’s Saginomiya Isumi for a slot in the Quarterfinals.
Sanzen’in Nagi dominated her match against Ikaros (Sora no Otoshimono) and Shimada Minami (Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu). Up next for Nagi will be Bakemonogatari’s Sengoku Nadeko and Hidamari Sketch’s Yuno in the finals of Block A.
AS Post for Results and Images. Yeah should have done that before lolol.
2-0 predictions, 1-1 picks today. So two of the most accomplished characters in Saimoe continue to leave their mark, both notching their 12th all-time win. Well today just formalized two intriguing matchups fitting of Block Finals: Nagi – Yuno – Nadeko and Shana – Nanoha – Isumi. I’ll get more into those two in the near future, but yeah, today must feel really good for Kugimiya Rie fans. As for me, I’m always happy for Nagi, whose probably in my Top15 or 20 in my moe list. I supported Nazuna in the other match, but I already knew that it was a hopeless cause, so no disappointment for placing second against one of Saimoe’s all-time greats.
Well, time for Blocks C and D. Got a great opener here, especially on the D side. Probably the match that will decide the winner of the Block itself (although Kurimu has a legit chance too). But Block C first.
This won’t take long, having Koromo with her in the same day is just pure overkill for Tacos. And Hayate will probably aid in ensuring she wins this, so they can give Maria (should she win against Hisa) a much needed split vote edge. So yeah, I just can’t see Tacos losing here, and the competition just don’t have enough to even cause the possibility of an upset. However, I am supporting Manabe Nodoka as the “least worst” option. Yeah.
Now this is interesting. While the fact that Koromo has the aid of Tacos combo votes, Railgun is for real, so it won’t be easy for Koromo. However I can still see her winning here because I think Uiharu is stronger than Kuroko, and Koromo is stronger than Hisa. Given that Hisa managed to edge Uiharu despite the combo with Kuroko, it gives me enough confidence to give Koromo the nod over Kuroko. In addition, Koromo has the character traits that 2ch normally prefers, so yeah, that’s also a bonus. In the end, despite the monster numbers Kuroko produced in the previous round, it’s not gonna be the same here. She might get close to Koromo, but in the end the latter shall prevail.
Picks-wise, I kinda feel disappointed that the three girls in Block D are ones I do have preference, in opposite to Block C which was lacking. So it hurts to go against Kyou or Kuroko, but ultimately Koromo is where it’s at. Top 10 moe for me right there, and I hope she won’t be stopped. She’s Saki’s best bet to win this year after all (given that the rest will eliminate each other).
Tune in tomorrow as we have the most important match of Block C. Oh man, that’s gonna be exciting stuff. And yeah, double Rie = double headline. Alternative headline for today:
