Haibara Ai from Meitantei Conan proved the persistence does pay off in the end, winning her match in scinitillating fashion to finally advance to the Second Round of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010. Ai holds the record for most Saimoe Main Draw appearances, and after her seventh try she clinched her first win, beating Hidamari Sketch’s Nori. Finishing third is Taishou Yakyuu Musume’s Tsukabae Tomoe, and at last place, Working!!’s Matsumoto Maya.
The other match saw Alisa Bannings notching the third victory for Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha in 2010, as she survived a late surge by Shiina (Angel Beats!). Rounding out the match were Suminoe Ako from Kiss x sis, and Chou’un from Koihime Musou.

First of all, grats to Ai for finally winning after years of futility. And I’d say it’s a hard-earned win and an epitome on how perseverance can pay off in the end. Sucks to be Nori, but I guess she’ll have more chances soon. Or will she? I hope so. As for Alisa, kinda surprised with that win too, but guess that shows that Nanoha faction really is back to the strength that they once held, and Kugyuu mojo aiding in the end was enough to stop a potential game-ending hurrah by Shiina.
So I end Round One with picks at 34-35-1, and predictions at 60-12. I can say I definitely did better last year, although this just means that the competition is much harder and trickier this year than the year before, I reckon.
Short post again, as I am in the middle of updating the rest of the site, among other things. But do check back later for Round One Power Rankings, and a preview of some sort. And yeah, the changelog too. So yeah, thanks for reading again. frustra, out.
