Hidamari Sketch went back to its winning ways as the tandem of Miyako and Natsume outshone the rest of their opponents, and consequently granting the two slots in the Second Round of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010. Miyako for her part easily overcame the challenge of Bakemonogatari’s Kanbaru Suruga, ToLoveRu’s Lala Satalin Deviluke, and To Heart’s Komaki Manaka, and she will be facing Misaka Mikoto and Shizuku next.
Natsume on the other hand stemmed the late effort of Senjou no Valkyria’s Isara Gunther. Sousou from Koihime Musou and Hatsune from Angel Beats! were the other finishers of the match. Natsume will meet Fate Testarossa and Yuuki Mikan.

No gamebreaking rushes this time. The Hidamari combo was too much for Suruga and Isara respectively. Might have Isara won if there was no combo? Maybe. Although I’m quite sure without the combo, Miyako could have dispatched Suruga, albeit harder. Speaking of hard, next match by Miyako will be nightmare mode. I’ll go into detail with that about two weeks from now, but for now I’m cherishing the Miyako win. At least she gets further this time compared to last year’s disaster. And regarding Isara – le sigh is all i can say. She came close but not enough. Natsume’s not bad though. Hidamari winning is always a welcome sight.
And now today we have perhaps the highlight of Block G, insofar as First Round is concerned. As to the winner, this is essentially Stealth Momo against Ui. That’s all I’m quite sure. It’s hard to call who will win, but I find myself leaning to my initial prediction of Ui. Ui fans have something to prove after losing badly to Amu last year, and I think she is better and stronger this year, with all the moments she had in season 2, she’s primed for at least a breakout win. One on one Momo vs. Ui would be really close, but the split vote with Touka will play a factor. That’s the edge Ui has in this match, and Railgun fans on the other side of the bracket will probably go for her as a measure of revenge against the Uiharu loss. So yeah, Ui it is. My support goes to Touka, although she’s probably be battling with Index as the next Maria in terms of Saimoe luck. Anyway, Touka is my favorite Minorin role and my second favorite Saki character. The entertainment value she just brings to the show is just golden. But she’s gonna lose here though. Badly. And all I can do is shrug.
The other match is quite unexciting but I look forward to Saten styling by a lot. Let’s see if she can break Fate and Mikoto’s records insofar as decisive victories are concerned. That’s all there is to it, because she’s gonna need to warm up before her next huge match. And she’s my pick, because Saten is just love. I mean who can’t get behind a Level Zero striving to be the best that she can. That, plus Itou Kanae is just ear candy. Yeah.
And on a closing note, fuck yeah, posted on the usual time for the first time in a long while. Gotta get the passion back right on track. 😀
