Tainaka Ritsu ensured that the K-On! core members remained perfect in Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010 as she won convincingly over Seitokai no Ichizon’s Shiina Minatsu to arrange a matchup against Senjougahara Hitagi in the Second Round. Hanamaru Youchien’s Koume settled for third, while Phantom’s Cal Devens at fourth.

Kanamemo meanwhile sent its second representative to the next round as Nakamachi Kana handily defeated Kampfer’s Sangou Shizuku.Third place went to Kara no Kyoukai’s Ryougi Shiki, followed by Seikon no Qwaser’s Ekaterina Kurae.

Man, my characters running really hot right now! Great to see Ritsu and Kana win, and in decisive fashion even. It’s sad that Minatsu and Koume had to bite the dust, but “it couldn’t be helped.” Although it’s quite surpising that Ritsu didn’t have any problem against Minatsu in her match. So yeah, this match raises plenty of questions in the future. Was this the true measure of SeiZon’s strength? Is K-On stronger than what they were last year? How will Mafuyu match up with Saki after this result? Does Ricchan have a chance against Bakemonogatari? And many more, will be answered but I’m keeping my thoughts regarding those queries reserved for now. For the meantime, let’s proceed to two intruiging matchups.

All Prelim1 characters in this Block E finale, but it boils down to Haruhi vs. Komoe. The deciding factor for this match would be how much Haruhi’s mojo has deteriorated in line with recent events. I still believe she can pull it off. She may not be as powerful as she would have been circa 2006, but there are still loyal Haruhiists out there (like me). Komoe did decent last year aided with a kind bracket but I think the loli teacher’s Saimoe campaign ends here. However, she will make it hard for Haruhi, as Railgun is one of the premier factions in this tournament. With that in mind, we’re probably looking at <50 margin of victory here, with Haruhi barely prevailing. And she has my vote, btw.

All Prelim2 charas this time. Lol, random god. Anyway, this is interesting in its own special way because it’s hard to tell who will win. But based on the numbers, only Airi and Mihoshi might be battling for first in this one, although i wouldn’t mind if Tomokane or Shizuka pulls it off. But ultimately Mihoshi has MC edge on her. So yeah, that, combined with me feeling lucky right now, makes me want to put my predictions and picks on the same vein and so, Mihoshi as my pick and prediction.

Time to wrap up the crazy Blocks E and F, and the powerful Block G, and tricky Block H beckons. No breaks by the way, so we’re gonna keep it going nonstop for nine days.~

News of K-ON ending the series probably brought out a lot of K-ON ex-supporters. Depending on how the series ends, the traction for it might get the members far

Ritsu won her match by a decent margin. Congrats frustra. I’m a little hurt by Minatsu losing. It would have been better if it was closer.

Let’s see… Haruhi for me, but I’m not that interested in the Block E. Block F is more interesting since it’s all Prelims 2. Why?! That’s just random draw fail! Then again, who really knows who’ll win.

I have no real favorite, but I chose the one I thought was most moe of the four. Had it been her sister, Tomoe, I would have had not doubts on who to vote for. Something about those happy-go-lucky, athletic types…
