In the Blink of an Eye

Saki extended its tournament-leading performance as Fukuji Mihoko easily controlled the flow of her match en route to victory in the First Round of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010. Saki has qualified its fifth character in the Second Round of Saimoe. Yamaguchi Kisaragi from Geijutsuka Art Design Class managed to place second, followed by Hinagiku from Hanamaru Youchien, and Houjou Satoko from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

Hiro helped Hidamari Sketch earn its third win by outclassing her foes. Celty Sturluson from Durarara! finished second, Hatena Yousei from Gakkoii 1 Nensei ni Narou! placed third, and A-tan from Hayate no Gotoku!, fourth.

Predictions =2-0 (28-4), Picks = 0-2 (14-18) now. We saw this coming from a mile away, so yeah, the Saki beatdown continues, just like last year. Still, pleased that Kisaragi did better than expected, and I’m also fond of Mihoko so I don’t really mind this result. Same goes for Hiro, too bad, Celty. There’s nothing much to analyze from this, so restating the obvious: Mihoko is high-tier, and despite the absence of strong competition, she manages to increase the vote count for this match anyway. As for Hiro, she has decent Saimoe strength, and she’s blessed with a good bracket, so let’s just see if she can capitalize.

Today’s matches also fall on the low-end of the power spectrum, but I’m a little intrigued by Hajime vs. Sohara. Sora no Otoshimono is perfect so far, with superb wins by Nymph and Ikaros, but going against a Saki faction riding on momentum might be asking too much from Sohara. She’ll make it at least an entertaining match. So Hajime gets my prediction nod, and as well as my vote.

The other match can go any other way. I’m hoping for some modern magic to pull through, meaning, that Yumiko finds a way to win, but Aruruu performed the best stats-wise. It’s also hard to discount Otome, although Mayoi Neko is still winless in the tournament. So yeah, this one is tricky to predict, my gut feel has me leaning to a Yumiko win, but i’m going with my initial prediction of Aruruu, as she’s the most established one here. Like Hajime v Sohara, this one will probably end up a close fight.

So amidst the dearth of superstars in today’s card, it might actually end up a fun set of matches to follow. /post.

I’m glad that those matches are over. Mihoko and Hiro won handily. It’s sad to see the headless rider go, but losing to Hiro isn’t bad.

Anyway, today’s Block C match may be good to watch. I won’t be paying too much attention to Block D.

Today, I’m picking oppai with Mion and Otome. I hope Mion can survive…

Higurashi’s glory days are over, so it’s gonna be hard for Mion, I think. Otome has a decent chance of winning, though.

Yumiko has oppai too you know 😛

I like the young Yumiko more than the older one.

Awww…sorry to see Celty go (and without a headless joke, too). What can ya do. Another Saki win…yawn.

Today it’s cute loli vs. W-oppai…loli wins. Oh yeah, and the daily Saki win.

BTW: Your headlines are so awesome, I’ve been using them as my daily desktop wallpaper!

    MadPanda…(Celty…-sniff!-)…
