Crush and Burn

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha’s Takamachi Nanoha dominated Fate/Stay Night’s Rin Tohsaka, Seitokai no Ichizon’s Toudou Lilicia and Mayoi Neko Overrun’s Suzuki to start her quest for a second Saimoe championship on the right note as Main Draw, Day Five of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010 concluded Saturday. So impressive was Nanoha she finished more votes than the rest of her opponents combined.

Equally fantastic was the Main Draw debut of Bakemonogatari’s Sengoku Nadeko, who also matched Nanoha’s feat of having more votes than her opponents combined. On her advance to the Second Round, Nadeko limited Sora no Woto’s Noel Kannagi, ToLoveRu’s Haruna Sairenji and Kiss x sis’ Suminoe Riko.

Well that was anticlimactic. Although everyone saw it coming I guess. Nanoha really is back, and this is a statement win I believe. I guess she kept up with Shana by blowing out her opponents, the same way Shana did by stopping Yuri quite handily. On the other hand, Nadeko sent a message to Yui – that is gonna be a hell of a battle. So Yui will just formalize that in the upcoming match, and let’s see how she has bounced back after last year’s painful defeat to Taiga in the finals.

The routs will continue in the set of matches we have for today. Hirasawa Yui will try to replicate Nadeko’s feat in the former match. Surely she will, because this match against the least of the GA faction (power-wise, by the way), and Setsuna, who barely made it in the first preliminaries. Nadeko’s match was all against first prelim q’ers, and she destroyed them, there’s no reason to believe that Yui will not do the same against virtual second prelim q’ers. Time to see what kind of message Yui shall send to Bakemonogatari for that inevitable match. However, I’m hoping for the best that my actual vote for this round, Secchan, will do somewhat decent, against the odds. Just reduce the margin of victory I suppose.

Uh, yeah, expect the same for the other match too. The Umineko duo and Ishigaki Tamaki are way out of Ikeda Kana’s league. On an unrelated note, if that was Kawazoe Tamaki that Ikeda will be facing, the match will be totally different. Still, Ikeda will style, in a warm-up match against the the White Devil. As for my vote, going with Beatrice. She’s awesome, trolltastic. She also has a great VA and has her moe-ments too. Unfortunately, she’s a complete underdog, and not even a miracle by Bernkastel will save them both. It’s just amusing how the random generator have some nasty humor putting these two together. Oh well.

Now to wait and see how much of show the two favored ones shall bring before the real deal starts. frustra, out.

Crush and Burn! Very nice headline. It’s kind of crazy that both winners were pretty much unanimous. I, personally, wouldn’t mind Nanoha (or Fate) winning Saimoe. It would be quite a feat to win 2 championships. Also, the debut of Nadeko in the main draw was very impressive. It’ll be interesting to see her performances in future rounds.

Nanoha winning a second Saimoe would be an incredible feat, and perhaps something that will have no equal. Winning one is hard enough. And I am totally okay with it.

Nadeko’s gonna give Yui a fight of her life. Should be very very good.

I’m definitely going to look forward to that.
