Captain Obvious

Saki’s Fukuji Mihoko fended off a late rally by Yamada Aoi of Working!! to claim first place finish in Group Fifteen of the Preliminary Round of the Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010. This was Saki’s second win in the preliminary stages of Saimoe, and in the process denied Working!! its first prelim topnotcher. Finishing at third was Kiriya Nozomi of Mayoi Neko Overrun!, followed by Bakemonogatari’s duo of Kanbaru Suruga and Oshino Shinobi.

Clannad’s Fujibayashi Ryou, Sora no Woto’s Sorami Kanata, Saki’s Senoo Kaori, ToLoveRu’s Haruna Sairenji, Fate/Stay Night’s Illyasviel von Einzbern, Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha’s Alisa Bannings, and Anyamal Tantei Kiruminzoo’s Hatori Kanon also qualified for the Main Draw.

Rest of the results here.

Well, that went as scripted, nothing new to see. We already know that Mayoi Neko can duke it out with the top-tier factions, and this showing by Nozomi only reinforces that. As for Working, it seems that they don’t entirely measure to proven veterans of the field, but that might change. We know that Saki lost a step, but this is passable performance for former semifinalist Mihoko, I guess. The rest, well, met expectations in this pretty easy group. Went 11 of 12 in predictions, only Anyamal Tantei foiled perfection, but Filicia’s performance was dismal. Oh well.

As for picks, the Arakawa brigade went under the bridge of Prelim One, but I guess that’s okay. 5-5-0 all in all.

Group Fifteen Preview

Well this is certainly a great way to wrap up the first prelim (well, there’s still Group 16, but yeah).

  1. Yui
  2. Shana
  3. Haruhi
  4. Yuri
  5. Mugi
  6. Nymph
  7. Kotegawa Yui
  8. Hoshina Utau
  9. Ochibana Ame
  10. Konori Mii
  11. Matsumoto Maya
  12. Lisa

Haruhi v Shana v Yuri v Yui.

I’m sure Yui will top this, if she doesn’t, then K-On is in trouble. For second place to fourth, I’m going with Shana-Haruhi-Yuri in that order. No reason, just pure hunch. It could go so many ways. Mugi is good enough for fifth place, although Nymph can occupy that slot. Counting on superior series mojo to guide Mugi to top five. I’m not sure if Ame is popular enough to place in this crowded group, but let’s just see. I’m not certain on the last two slots, like in the last group, but counting on Working!! this time. And yeah, Toyosaki Aki.

For picks, in the end, went with:

Ochibana Ame – LOYALTY. Hirohashi Ryou.
Kotegawa Yui – priority is the superior Yui

Haruhi – in God we trust.
Mugi – sup. she cannot into Boke ;_;
Nino – Maaya. Venus.
Utau – my heartful song ;A;. Nana~
Ada – great imouto is great.
Hirasawa Yui – GITAH!?
Nymph – fuck yeah
Tomoe – baseball is moe.

This will be an explosive group, let’s see how it matches up with Group Twelve’s superb showing. Again, let’s have a great one.
