Amae Koromo from Saki qualified to the main draw of the Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010 as she breezed through Group Ten of the Preliminary Rounds. The only competitor within touching distance of Koromo was Hayate no Gotoku!’s Saginomiya Isumi. The two were quarterfinalists in last year’s Saimoe. Saki broke even with Hayate after Segawa Izumi outpaced Ryuumonbuchi Touka in Group Three.
Finishing third was Toudou Elis from Seitokai no Ichizon. Tied at fourth were Hanamaru Youchien’s Anzu and Taishou Yakyuu Musume’s Ogasawara Akiko. At sixth was BakaTest’s Kinoshita yuuko, followed by Morishita Koyomi from Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou. Miyanaga Teru nabbed the eighth spot, and are joined by Miria McKenzie of Jewelpets, Minakami Misao of Asura Cryin, Suzuki of Mayoi Neko Overrun and Selnia Iori Flameheart of Ladies vs. Butlers! as Main Draw qualifiers.
The rest of Group Nine, are you even trying?! Even The Koromo blew past Isumi so Hayate v Saki is 1-1 for now. Much has been said on how this group was underwhelming, but not every group can be blockbusters like Group 4, 6 or 8. I’m okay with this a little bit, since it gave Koyomi a chance to break through in one which she would have no other chance had it been on a huge group. Still, I fear for TYM and and Hanamaru’s chances if they can’t keep within a good distance against the veteran Saki and Hayate factions. Also, lol Jewelpets! Look out now.
As for predictions, went 9 of 12, and yeah didn’t expect much from this one. At least the ones I thought would make it were at the threshold of qualification. Went 6-3-1 in picks, and for the first time, not a KobaYuu character crashed out in my list. Juvia from Fairy Tail, you will be missed ;_;
Group Ten Preview
Going with these twelve to make it in Group Ten
- Saten Ruiko
- Takei Hisa
- Takanashi Nazuna
- Kajiki Yumi
- Someya Mako
- Alicia Melchiott
- Sakurazaki Setsuna
- Yuzuhara Konomi
- Suminoe Ako
Somewhat an improvement over the previous group, but still it’s not saying much. Saten debuts against not the strongest of the Saki, but Hisa and Yumi are capable of taking a group that does not boast much firepower. I think Saten will prevail, despite the triple team from Saki. Working’s mojo will get to work again with the youngest Takanashi sister, Nazuna. The same applies to Shiina from Angel Beats. Kobato hails from the Madhouse + CLAMP tandem, but she’s not Kinomoto Sakura. But in this group, she can still do decent. Lisa is a blind guess, with Toyosaki Aki backing, but I’m skeptical. Alicia will make it since she did decent last year after all. Secchan is a Negima veteran, tried and tested she always has a chance. Konomi figures to follow. Lastly, Ako can grab a slot since her sister managed to do the same as well.
For my picks, I’m going with
Hisa-Alicia-Saten-Secchan – four priorities for the day.
Alicia is one of my favorite video game characters, and somewhat found her way in anime. Bonus points for Inoue Marina.
Hisa gets my vote because of her awesomeness. Hisagiku, so they say. Fuck yeah Itou Shizuka, and oh dear, them twintails. Kick logic to the curb!
Saten because of Itou Kanae, and because being a Level Zero, she still managed to find a way to be useful.
Secchan – them wings, that voice (KobaYuu) and she’s pretty to boot. And she has Konoka ❤
For the rest: Kobato-Nishida Haruka-Hitou Nami-Mako-Yumi-Nazuna
Hanazawa Kana vote for Kobato, Haruka for styling all over Kana, Hitou Nami for being amusingly normal, Someya Mako for Shiraishi Ryouko, Kajiki Yumi for being a cool captain, and Takanashi Nazuna for her amusing way of dealing with her brother. Not a bad imouto too.
All in all, this group lacks power, but that soon will be served come Group Eleven and Twelve, so look forward to it!
