“AnimeFans Saimoe Tournament”

apparently there is an ongoing moe tournament in this site. thanks to chaosprophet for pointing this out. now if only i can figure out if this is in any way related to last year’s Chinese Saimoe (nope, I can’t do Chinese moonrunes at all), and how the character eligibility and voting process actually work. in any case, the voting numbers are decent (Shana vs. Mikoto had about 1K-plus votes apiece), and they are three matches away from the quarterfinals. i’ll probably archive this too, just for kicks. as of this writing, Fujibayashi Kyou, Nakano Azusa, Shiina Mafuyu, Akiyama Mio and Misaka Mikoto are through to the Best Eight, while fighting for the final three slots are Katsura Hinagiku vs. Saber, Athena Tennos vs. Ilyasviel von Einzbern, and Tohsaka Rin vs. Ikaros, respectively.

on a semi-related note, Chartfag’s nifty summer season chart (V1) is out, and all i can say so far is FUCK YEAH STRIKE WITCHES.

another great Tenshi fanart to finish it off, and damn there’s plenty of them in pixiv.

That new tournament looks very interestng. Is this new or has it been going on for a long time? If so, who are the past winners? It’s a very pretty site and has some good character choices. I think, given enough exposure, it will become a very popular tournament. Is also shows us an early prediction on how some new shows will fare this year.

apparently it has been going on since 2008, and the past two winners, unsurprisingly, considering the Chinese “metagame” were Shana (2008) and (C.C.) respectively. i’ll be updating the archive soon for the top 8’ers in both tournaments, but i still have no idea how their voting process works.

and yeah, i think the site design is nice, and it could serve as a nice indicator on who are the characters to beat in the upcoming JMoe (although some of them are quite obvious)

There’s another Korean moe tournament going on now as well. http://moe.aniparty.net/2010_1st_super/ It looks rather interesting, and its Top 8 is Holo, Shana, Hina, Tomoyo, Azusa, Mio, Saber and Mikoto. It’s very similar to this one, and it’s also making strides in become international apperently. The top 16 also held Miku and Black Rock Shooter, making their nomination process questionable, however this tournament looks like it’ll be big too.

nice find ^^ noticed that the voting numbers range from mid-800s to probably a thousand. as of this comment looks like Shana and Hinagiku are through to the final four.

I’m really interested in this Chinese tournament. It has 64 contestants, similar to ISML in the past. It makes me wonder of how the nomination and preliminary processes were. I’ve been trying to look around the site for past contestants, but I’m having trouble. Do you happen to know any info on past contestants?
